Privacy Policy
Kept ("Kept", "we", "us") is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that lets you save links from other apps and find them later. It is made by Bhushan Dhapodkar. This policy explains what information Kept handles, why, and the choices you have.
In short: Kept stores the links you save and, if you sign in, your name and email so your saves can sync. We don't show ads, don't track you across apps or websites, and don't sell or share your data. You can delete everything at any time.
1. Using Kept without an account
You can use Kept without signing in. Your saves (links, titles, thumbnails, notes, tags and collections) are stored only on your device and are not sent to our servers. Deleting the app removes them.
2. Information we collect when you sign in
Signing in is optional and only needed to back up your saves and sync them between devices.
| Information | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Your name and email address, and an account identifier from Google or Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive a private relay address instead of your email. | To create your account, sign you in and show who is signed in. |
| Your saves | The links you save and their title, description, thumbnail link and author or channel name; your notes, tags, collections, favorites and "done" marks; and when each was saved or changed. | To back up your saves and keep them in sync across your devices. |
| Technical data | When your device talks to our servers, our hosting provider records standard request information such as IP address, time and app version. | To keep the service running, secure and free of abuse. |
We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, browsing history, or the content of the videos and posts you save. Kept does not use advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How link previews work
When you save a link, the app fetches its title and thumbnail directly from the website the link points to (for example youtube.com or instagram.com), and for some sites from their public preview services (YouTube, TikTok, Reddit and X). Those websites receive the link and your device's IP address, just as when you open the link in a browser. Thumbnails are loaded from the original website; Kept does not copy or store the images.
4. Who processes your information
We use a small number of service providers, only to run Kept:
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in service. Synced data is stored on servers in Singapore (AWS ap-southeast-1).
- Google and Apple provide "Sign in with Google" and "Sign in with Apple". Their own privacy policies apply to the sign-in screens they show.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone for their own marketing. We may disclose information if required by law.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account and synced saves are kept until you delete them or your account.
- Items you delete are removed from your devices and our servers when they next sync.
- When you delete your account, your account and all synced saves are deleted from our servers immediately. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.
- Signing out removes your saves from that device; they stay in your account until you delete it.
6. Your choices and rights
- Use Kept without an account, keeping everything on your device.
- Edit or delete any save at any time in the app.
- Delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account, or by email. See Delete your account. If you use Sign in with Apple, deleting your account also disconnects Kept from your Apple ID.
- Get a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, by emailing us.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, India under the DPDP Act, or California under the CCPA), you may have additional rights, such as to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to processing. We honor these requests for everyone. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
7. Security
All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). On our servers, each account can only read and change its own data, and sign-in is handled by Google or Apple, so Kept never sees your password. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Children
Kept is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
